The 2026 ARWS Brazil Series Final brings the legendary Haka Expedition to Tocantins, where Brazil's top adventure racing teams will battle for national titles in a 200 km race, with an optional extension to 500 km.
Palmas, Brazil – October 2026 – One of Brazil's most spectacular wilderness destinations is preparing to host the grand finale of the 2026 Adventure Racing World Series Brazil (ARWS Brazil Series). The iconic Haka Expedition, one of the country's longest-established adventure races, will bring leading Brazilian teams to the remote landscapes of Jalapão, in the state of Tocantins, for a decisive end to the national season.
The event marks the third and final round of the 2026 ARWS Brazil Series, following the Bituin Adventure Race in southern Brazil and the Malacara Race in the Triângulo Mineiro region of Minas Gerais.
With the championship still wide open, everything will come down to the final race.
As the series finale, Haka Expedition carries double ranking points, offering a maximum of 500 points compared with 250 points at each of the previous rounds. This makes the event decisive for the overall ARWS Brazil Series ranking title.
The race will also host the final of the Brazilian Adventure Racing Championship, organized in partnership with the Brazilian Adventure Racing Confederation (CBCA). While the overall series champion will be determined by accumulated points, the eligible team winning the 200 km final will claim both the ARWS Brazil Final and Brazilian Championship titles.
Some of Brazil's most recognized adventure racing teams will be taking part across the event's different distances, including Kamadona Adventure, Lobo Guará, Kailas Fuga, BOA and Suindara Tupi, among others.
A 200 km championship with an Extra 300 km of Adventure
One of the most distinctive features of this year's event is its race format.
The official 200 km course will determine the ARWS Brazil Final and Brazilian Adventure Racing Championship results, challenging teams through a combination of trekking, mountain biking, paddling and map-and-compass navigation.
Once teams reach the 200 km finish line, their championship race is complete. However, those looking for an even greater adventure will have the option to continue for approximately another 300 km, extending their journey to a total of 500 km.
For these teams, the additional distance will be an optional adventure rather than part of the competitive 500 km classification.
Jalapão: A Spectacular Wilderness in Brazil's Cerrado
Located in the state of Tocantins, Jalapão is one of Brazil's most remarkable ecotourism destinations and an exceptional setting for expedition adventure racing.
The region lies within the Cerrado biome, one of the most biodiverse tropical savannas in the world, and is famous for its dramatic golden sand dunes, towering plateaus, crystal-clear rivers, waterfalls and unique natural springs known as fervedouros.
These extraordinary springs are fed by powerful underground water flows that create natural buoyancy, allowing visitors to float effortlessly in remarkably clear water.
Beyond its natural beauty, Jalapão is known for its remote wilderness, sandy terrain, intense heat and vast open landscapes.
For adventure racers, these conditions provide a demanding environment where navigation, endurance, strategic decisions and teamwork can make the difference between success and failure.
Haka Expedition: Nearly Two Decades of Brazilian Adventure Racing
The race is directed by Leonardo “Léo” Barbosa, one of Brazil's most experienced adventure race organizers and the driving force behind Haka Race, established in 2007.
With nearly 20 years of experience organizing adventure racing events, Barbosa has played an important role in the development of the sport in Brazil.
Bringing the Haka Expedition to Jalapão for the ARWS Brazil Series Final represents a special opportunity to combine the history of one of Brazil's most traditional races with the excitement of the national championship.
The event runs from late October into early November, with the opening paddling prologue scheduled for October 31 in Palmas and the main race start on November 1 in Taquaruçu.
The 200 km championship finish is scheduled for November 2, while competitors undertaking the extended 500 km expedition will continue racing through the following days, with the course closing on November 6.
With national titles on the line, some of the country's best teams competing and a world-class wilderness setting, Haka Expedition Jalapão 2026 is set to deliver a memorable conclusion to the Brazilian adventure racing season.
