Huairasinchi is the adventure race with more editions in the history of the sport (19). The race re-discovers hidden places in the extraordinary biodiverse Ecuador country. Every race is completely different from the past ones, visiting rainforest lowlands, cloud forest, and snow caped volcanoes. Racers are immersed in a rich cultural experience with local habitants and indigenous communities around the course. The race directors work closely with the local communities to promote their culture and explore ancient trails and areas that are not in the normal tourism offer.
The southern area of Ecuador is rich with culture, nature and a playground for adventure. The diversity of the area will offer the unique and immersive experience of tropical jungle, pristine rivers, amazing highlands and more in one race. The altitude will not be a key factor during the race menu, but get ready for an epic experience with lots of wildlife, views, terrain and different weather during the course.
"Hosting an Adventure Race World Championship 10 years later is a big compromise and a great challenge. We are thrilled to plan a magnificent event with a totally new route in unexplored locations in southern Ecuador. The experience we acquired in the past World Championship will help us to bring a dream event in one of the most diverse places on earth. Culture, nature and wild terrain will be part of an expedition we will never forget.”

This year the Huairasinchi race in Ecuador took teams deep into the Amazon rainforest for an adventure unlike any the race had delivered before. Huairasinchi (a Kichwa word meaning strength of the wind) is the oldest race in the Adventure Racing World Series, and always one of the toughest.
