SUFFERFEST IN THE STYX

Race Description:

Back for its third year, the Sufferfest in the Styx returns with a vengeance on April 25, 2026, challenging racers to navigate one of Florida’s most enigmatic and ecologically diverse landscapes.

The course spans miles of Newnans Lake shoreline and threads through two major tributaries, including Camps Canal and the legendary River Styx.

This region is a mosaic of depression marshes, dome swamps, and the sprawling Gum Root Swamp, where shifting terrain and dense wetlands demand strategic route choices and relentless grit. For 2026, racers will face new route-finding challenges within the River Styx itself, adding a layer of mystery and complexity to an already formidable course.
