Race Description:

The LA ROUTA Adventure Race is a four-day, non-stop, full-on expedition type adventure race spanning approximately 350 kilometers. Designed as a point-to-point race, navigation is a critical component, with mixed-gender teams of four replying solely on a map and a compass to guide them. Teams are responsible for choosing their own route provided they locate all control points in the correct sequence.

The race tests a wide range of disciplines, including trekking, mountain biking, ocean swimming, paddling, and high-elements. To add a unique cultural twist, a selection of traditional Filipino games is integrated into the course for both novelty and excitement. Competitors will traverse a variety of terrain, from paved roads and narrow single-track trails to small villages and dense tropical jungle.

Navigation is the cornerstone of adventure racing. In LA ROUTA, navigators must accurately set gridlines and plot control points on the provided map using given coordinates, bearings, or distances. The map uses a non-standard, user-specified scale, requiring precision and skill.

In LA ROUTA, teams are not given the option to choose their racing category; instead, their placement is determined by their performance at specific control points and cut-off times. The race is divided into three (3) progressive tiers: the Aspirant category, the Candidates category, and the coveted Elite category. Each tier features a route of increasing distance and difficulty. Only the fastest and most strategic teams will make the Elite category and take on the full course.

To enhance transparency and spectator engagement, all teams are equipped with GPS trackers, allowing real-time tracking via the official LA ROUTA website, the ARWS website, and ARWS-sanctioned adventure racing social media platforms. This global live-tracking system not only supports organizers in ensuring team safety and monitoring race progress, but also invites fans, families, and adventure racing enthusiasts around the world to follow the action as it unfolds-bringing a new level of excitement, accessibility, and connectivity to the competition.

The LA ROUTA Adventure Race is set for November 17-21, 2025, and will take place in one of the Philippines stunning island provinces-renowned for its vast wilderness, pristine beaches, and a scattering of scenic islets.
