The 2010 edition will be the eighth one of this race of adventure, internationally recognized as one of the hardest and most important of the world. It will take placebetween September 30 and October 9.
The Bimbache Extrem Castilla y León 2010 will be THE ADVENTURE RACING WORLD
CHAMPIONSHIP, and there will be, among others, the winning teams of the seven editions of the Adventure Raid World Series.
In addition it will take place for the third year in Castilla y León. The first Bimbache Extrem took place in the Island of El Hierro, the second one in Gran Canary (both in the Canary Islands), the three successive years in different provinces of Andalusia, and the 2008 and 2009 editions have taken place in Castilla y León.
The best teams of the world have already taken part in the Bimbache Extrem competitions, attracted by the extreme character of this adventure, not only for the
design of the tours but also for the incredible landscapes that they cross.
On the other hand the competition will rely on the presence of numerous means of press and television both national and international, as well as a production of television and photography.
In this occasion the provinces chosen to carry out this adventure, in which there will take part 50 mixed teams of 4 members each coming from approximately thirty countries, will be those of Salamanca, Zamora and Ávila, since in both previous editions the race took place through Segovia, Soria,
Valladolid, Burgos, León and Palencia.
In addition these provinces are crossed by the two most important historical ways of Spain.
The first one it is the Way of Santiago, which crosses the north of Castilla y Leon, and is no doubt the western route of peregrination most important and well known through the world, since this route has been crossed during centuries by millions of persons of five continents.
Te second one, the Route of the Silver, one of the most singular Roman infrastructures of the Peninsula, which was created to join the important cities of Emerita Augusta (Mérida) with Asturica Augusta (Astorga). Route of step and exchange of cultures and habits that would be used by the first pilgrims coming from the south of Spain in their way to Santiago. Lucky a great part of its tracing has remained to the present day.
It is necessary to stand out that the year 2010 will be a “Xacobeo year”, and there will no be other one until 2021.
Since the 2010 edition is the world championship it will have a longer tour that in past editions, that possibly will include about 700 kilometres of mountain bicycle, trekking, canoeing in rivers and lakes, rafting, line skating and, as always, incredible and spectacular sections of ropes, tyroline and rappel.
