Ecomotion Newsletter Part one
Ecomotion has the pleasure to receive you for the Ecomotion - AR World Championship 2008, which will take place from October 29th to November 9th. The venue couldn’t be better and more challenging. The Ecomotion/Pro, 6th edition will happen on the states of Piauí, Ceará and Maranhão, with a race course of approximately 550 km, in a competition that promises to be the more expeditionary ever in Brazil.
Due to the extreme hot weather in this time of the year on the Brazilian Northeast – with temperatures up to 40ºC – and to its main characteristic, the sandy soil, which will probably make it harder for the teams; the organization estimated a 550km race course with forecast of finish in 7 days.
The disciplines will be: orientation, double kayak, sailing, trekking, MTB, rope skills and rapel.

1. Jericoacora is the ARWC headquarters
Jericoacoara counts with a population of only 2 thousand inhabitants. Until 1985, it was an even smaller fishermen village. Only recentely discoverd by the tourism, created in 1984 the APA (Environmental Protection Area) in order to preserve the area. Nowadays, its major economical activity is the tourism, but always done in an environmental friendly way.
Infra structure - Jericoacoara offers many internet access options. Through all the village it’s possible to find cybercafés and it was recently inaugurated a new wireless service – that allows the connections from hotels, pousadas and in the spots nearby.
There is a restaurant structure able to serve the tourists, but we advise to all team supplies to be bought in Fortaleza, for its bigger infra structure.
Banks: Jericoacoara has no banks. Only in Jijoca (last stop before Jericoacoara) can be found na Banco do Brasil agency and a lotery house, where it’s possible to make bank transactions through Caixa Econômica. There are also no exchange bureaus on the village. So don’t forget to arrange it beforehand.
2. How to get there
The organization will offer to all international teams 3 organization transports to the Jericoacoara scheduled at different times. Those will be the only available times, 29/10 – in the morning and in the afternoon, 30/10 – in the morning.
